Today is a rainy day and it will rain for the next couple of days. i will probably get a patient from a car accident due to the rain. I always recommend that people get med pay for their car insurance because if the car accident is severe (which they can be) then the patients health insurance may not cover all of the visits necessary to get them better. This is especially important if you don’t have health insurance or it doesn’t cover chiropractic care. I know one person who was in a care accident and she broke her leg. The health insurance paid for the hospital bills but did not pay for the cost of the ambulance which ended up costing 1,000.00. If she had med pay on her car insurance it would have paid for the ambulance cost. So check with you car insurance company and see if you have med pay on your policy. If you don’t then look into getting it. Because you never know when you will need it and it really doesn’t add much to your premium.

Why It is Important to See A Chiropractor After a Car Accident November 14, 2009

If you are in a car accident it is important to see a chiropractor after the accident. What happens is that the impact my cause a misalignment in the spine if the impact is sever enough. Even though you may not feel any pain right away the pain can slowly develop months after the initial impact. Another reason why it is important is be checked is because you may have sustained a whiplash injury. The occurs when the car hits you from behind and your head quickly goes forward and then backwards. Sometimes this can cause a reversal of the curve in your neck and this can only be determined by taking an x-ray of your neck. Traction may be required to restore the curve of your neck due to the tearing or stretching of ligaments and tissues. If it is not restored then degeneration will begin with bone spurring and decrease in disk height as a result. I also recommend that patients carry med pay on their car insurance incase their health insurance doesn’t have chiropractic care and even if it does it may take more than the number of visits that their health insurance covers.

An advisory committee for the Federal Drug Administration recommended a ban on Percocet and Vicodin because of their effects on the liver.
The drugs contain acetaminophen which is found in Tylenol and Excedrin.
Each year 400 people die and 42,000 are hospitalized due to overdoses.
People are using these drugs to limit or decrease the pain they are experiencing.
Low back pain, neck pain, headaches are common reasons for taking it.
These are also the aches and pains that chiropractors can effectively treat.
Now doesn’t it make sense to see a chiropractor to see if he can help rather than risk liver damage by taking acetaminophen?

A lot of people tell me about their pains and describe them as muscle pain and feel that massage or stretching can just solve the problem. Yet when they do this this problem keeps coming back. I want to shed some light on what is going on. If you haven’t been to the gym in a long time and exercise a lot you are going to have sore muscles the next couple days and then it should go away. I you have sore or tight and achy muscles that don’t seem the get better than some else is probably going on. People commonly associate nerve involvement with sharp shooting pains or numbness and tingling. Nerve involvement can also manifest as muscle aches and tightness that just doesn’t get better. But since people feel it in their muscles they naturally conclude it is a muscle problem. When a nerve is pinched or there is pressure on it can cause many symptoms. Naturally is you have any sort of problem of this nature and want to get something done about it I would invite you to come in for an evaluation you can find out more information at www.poway-chiropractic.com or www.rodechiropractic.com

Most people think of pain as an annoyance. Pain actually serves a very useful purpose. It is telling you that something is wrong and needs fixing or correction. However what most people do today is to take a pain pill that will make the pain go away. This is actually a bad idea because once the pain is gone then you are much more likely to do something which will aggravate your condition. So what you need to do is figure out why you are having you pain. Was it the first time in a while that you went to the gym and you now have sore muscles. Well that should go away in a day or two. Is it something that has been going on for months or even years? Then that definitely warrants further investigation. What happens is you may have some degeneration going on in your spine that is affecting the nerves going to your muscles. This should not be ignored. Degeneration in the spine is a progressive condition that if not stopped can lead to permanent decrease in space for the nerves to come out of the spine and greatly increases the chance of having problems now and in the future. A high percentage of auto accidents result in whiplash. To avoid short and long term pain, chiropractic care should be administered as soon as possible.
Poway CA, February 08, 2008 — According to the United States Department of Transportation, over the last decade there was an average of more than 5 million automobile accidents every year, resulting in more than 2 million injuries annually.
Perhaps the most common auto injury is whiplash, which is caused by a sudden movement of the head in any direction. The result is that muscles and ligaments supporting the spine can become strained or torn. Some symptoms include neck pain or stiffness, pain between shoulder blades, blurred vision, fatigue, headache, and dizziness to name a few.
Often times auto accident victims are not aware of the damage caused by whiplash. Symptoms sometimes do not appear immediately. They can take days to appear or may not even surface for years, according to Dr. Kip Rode, D.C., an expert chiropractor and owner of Rode Chiropractic. Because of this, Dr. Rode urges all accident victims to seek medical care whether they feel immediate pain or not. In some cases early detection of whiplash can significantly decrease long-term consequences. According to Dr. Rode, even after whiplash victims settle insurance claims, almost half suffer with symptoms even two years later.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 800,000 people suffer from whiplash every year. Costs related to whiplash total more than $5 billion annually. Today most cases of automobile whiplash are covered by insurance companies.
Often times, medical professionals like chiropractors will offer free consultations to auto injury victims to see if whiplash or any other injuries need proper care. Dr. Rode offers a free consultation at his practice, Rode Chiropractic. “That way it makes it easier for victims to see if they need help. Especially with whiplash cases, where many times victims don’t even know they are injured. I can’t stress the importance of medical care after an accident. It can really reduce long term pain, discomfort, and treatment,” said Dr. Rode

A lot of times patients and people I know will explain how they “pop” their own back or neck by stretching their bodies in an extreme way. They want to know if this is similar to what I do. I have to tell them that it is not. The sound they hear is just like the sound when you crack you knuckles but it is different than what I do as a chiropractor.
When I adjust them I am moving the bone that has been stuck or fixated for a long period of time and doesn’t move freely. Since a poping sound occurs frequently when I make an adjustment they naturally equate the two but there really is a difference. When a patient moves their neck or back and a sound occurs it is from a joint that is already moving well on it own and not the one causing the problems. This is really an important point that many people don’t understand. So there really is a big difference between what I do and what a person thinks they do on their own.
Also cracking your knuckles does not cause your joints to grow that was just story your parents told you to get you to stop doing it because the sound annoyed them. I am located on 13248 Poway Road Ste B 858 391-1372

Stretching is very important for your body. I want you to think just a moment about what a dog or cat does when they wake up from sleep. They stretch their whole body and then go about their business. But people commonly role out of bed after hitting the alarm button, take a show and get dressed for work. What you really want to do after just waking up is to slowly stretch your back and your neck. By taking your time and stretching each morning you can help prevent your spine from going out of alignment during the day.

Sept 22, 2008
Press Release Summary = Dr Kip Rode of Rode Chiropractic has been
helping pregnant women relieve their lower back pain during the whole pregnancy process.
It is estimated that two-thirds of American women will experience lower back pain by
the 36th week of pregnancy. Dr Kip Rode, a local Poway, CA chiropractor, has been helping pregnant women to relieve their lower back pain and is getting
excellent results without the use of drugs.
According to Dr. Rode, “Many women are told by their physician that they simply need to wait until after birth to be alleviated from their pain. This is not true. Chiropractic care can not only treat lower back pain, but often leads to a quicker and less painfull labor process. Women do not have to simply accept lower back pain during pregnancy, now they can do something to prevent it.”
Lower back pain is such a prevalent symptom during pregnancy for the following reasons: women experience significant weight gain that adds stress to the lower back, their center of gravity changes during pregnancy which causes muscular imbalances and muscle fatiguing, and they experience hormonal surges which cause joint laxity and decreased joint support.
Dr. Rode says that, “Chiropractic care should be used throughout the whole pregnancy process. Before a woman becomes pregnant, a proper examination can reveal imbalances in the spine or pelvis that can lead to lower back pain during pregnancy and neuromusculoskeletal problems after birth. During pregnancy, I can make recommendations for appropriate stretching and activities of daily living that can strengthen lower back muscles. After pregnancy, many women still experience lower back pain due to stretching of the ligaments. Treatment for this should be done
before the ligaments return to their pre-pregnancy state. Chiropractic care should really be administered throughout the whole pregnancy process.”

Dr. Kip Rode offers insight on how to reduce and prevent back pain during pregnancy with chiropractic care. Women do not have to suffer through uncomfortable back pain if preventative measures are taken.
Poway, July 20, 2007 — Pregnancy greatly increases a woman’s vulnerability to back problems during and after birth. Did you know that at least half of pregnant women experience back pain during pregnancy? Some studies suggest that these numbers are even higher.
Many women simply accept back pain as an unavoidable trade off in the creation of new life. However, Dr. Kip Rode, D.C., of Rode Chiropractic says that pregnant women do not have to take back pain “lying down.” Dr. Rode is an experienced chiropractor in Poway, CA who aims at increasing women’s awareness of the relationship between back pain and pregnancy. He said, “Women who are more educated are more likely to seek care and reduce back pain.”
Studies have proven that chiropractic care greatly reduces the amount of pain and discomfort throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. A study in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics in 1991 revealed that 84% of patients who received spinal manipulative therapy (chiropractic care) reported a decrease in back pain while pregnant. Another study reported in the book “Chiropractic Pediatrician” showed that regular chiropractic adjustments reduced average labor times by an average of 33%.
Dr. Rode said, “Women who have regular chiropractic treatment and are properly instructed about ways to reduce pain have a much easier, smoother child bearing experience. Also, women who have significant back pain during pregnancy are more likely to experience a longer period of pain in subsequent pregnancies. That’s why I really stress a preemptive approach, meaning get educated before your body begins to make its maternal changes.”
Dr. Rode strongly suggests contact with a local chiropractor who can give valuable guidance and care. Some other things that can be done to reduce strain on the back are sleeping on your side, maintaining good posture, eating and exercising properly, using a pregnancy pillow or support belt, and many more.
To learn more about this topic schedule a consultation with your local chiropractor. Dr. Kip Rode offers a discounted consultation for pregnant women or women who may become pregnant. Rode Chiropractic is located at 13248 Poway Road Suite B, Poway, CA. Also, visit Dr. Rode’s website at www.rodechiropractic.com for more information.

For_Immediate_Release:
August 08 2008 (Press Release) — Did you know that according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is now the most common reported medical problem in the workplace?
According to Dr. Kip Kip Rode of Rode Chiropractic in Poway, CA, “Carpal Tunnel Syndrome accounts for nearly 60% of work related injuries. The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons estimate that Carpal Tunnel costs $27 billion annually in medical treatment and lost income!”
Carpal Tunnel affects the nerve function of the hand. Do you have any of the following symptoms? Aching of the hands and wrists, hands are numb and tingly, trouble holding objects, or less than normal hand strength?
If you said yes to any of the above, you might have symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It is most common among women between the ages of 40 to 60, but affects men and women of all ages and occupations.
You do not need to suffer anymore. Dr. Kip Rode says, chiropractic care offers exciting opportunities to treat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome without the use of surgery. In the past, Americans received surgery to treat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. A new study shows chiropractic to be equally effective to medical care, without the need for surgery!”
Dr. Kip Rode says “Increasingly patients are turning to chiropractic to treat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Surgery should be the last resort, not the first. In 80% of the cases where surgery has been completed, the symptoms have returned within two years. Press Release Summary = Dr. Kip Rode of Rode Chiropractic helps golfers improve their golf game this summer. Learn how chiropractic care can help golfers lower their score and stay injury free.
Dr. Kip Rode of Rode Chiropractic is helping golf lovers to stay on the green longer. “All too often I see golfers end up taking pain killers or having to stop playing all together, just because of back pain from golf. Recently chiropractic treatment has really caught on as an excellent way to alleviate those on-the-green pains,” says Dr. Rode.
“The problems occur from all those repetitive golf swings. Since chiropractic is the science of the spine, we are in a good position to help golfers understand the correct way to take care of their bodies while still enjoying lots of golf,” says Dr. Rode.
Professional golfers are well aware of the benefits that chiropractic care can provide. A recent study reported that up to 85 percent of injuries on the PGA Tour and Senior Tour relate to the spine. Between 70 to 75 percent of these golfers receive chiropractic care regularly. Amateur golfers can especially benefit from chiropractic care. There is approximately 25 to 30 million amateur golfers in America. Dr. Rode says, “It’s my goal to educate golfers that chiropractic can really benefit them and keep them playing pain free.”
Dr. Rode says, “Not only can chiropractors most effectively treat acute and chronic back injuries caused by golf, but can also help them prevent injuries. Some important things they should be doing are stretching before and after golfing, keeping hydrated, shortening your back swing, and using correct posture and stance.”
Dr. Rode invites any golfer who is interested in improving their game and saving their back to schedule a complimentary office visit. “This way they can see how chiropractic might enhance their golf game.”

Poway, CA, March 29, 2006 –(PR.com)– Finally, a solution for your chronic back pain. So says Dr. Kip Rode, a chiropractor from Poway, CA who has treated over 600 patients with back pain. “We get a lot of patients who were in chronic pain and told by their primary care physician that they really had no other option other than surgery. In many cases, we have been able to get these patients fully recovered and out of pain, without needles, drugs, or surgery. Needless to say, they’re the ones very excited about chiropractic!”
Dr. Kip Rode, who has been helping chronic back pain sufferers ever since he graduated from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (Whittier, CA) in 1999 says, “People think chiropractic is new. But it’s not. Records show that spinal manipulation can be traced back to the time of Hippocrates. Studies show that 80% of the American population will suffer back pain at some point. So this is a big problem and chiropractic offers a solution that has been around for thousands of years.”
Dr. Rode says that in recent years the medical community has embraced chiropractic because it offers treatment without the use of drugs or surgery. “In treating low back slipped discs, most experts agree that conservative care should be tried before surgery is considered. That’s what chiropractic offers. It has a long history of effectively stopping back, neck, and shoulder pain yet doesn’t require a trip to the hospital or recovery time.”
Dr. Kip Rode offers consultation free of charge to anyone looking into chiropractic and how it might help them. “This way they can make an informed decision, and it doesn’t cost them anything.”

People who have been suffering from headeaches all their lives can now find relief.
Poway, CA (PRWEB) March 18, 2006 — According to the American Chiropractic Association, nine out of ten Americans suffer from headaches. Dr. Kip Rode, a local Poway, CA chiropractor, is using chiropractic to successfully stop migraine headaches in hundreds of patients who previously had little help from traditional medicine.
“Many of my patients felt like there was no hope for them,” says Dr. Rode. “There is a large segment of our population who suffer silently with headache pain almost every day. They often turn to pain killers to temporarily stop the pain. But drugs only provide short term relief, it doesn’t fix the core problem at hand. We are using chiropractic to fix the source of the migraines and we are having excellent results.”
Is there evidence that chiropractic can stop headache pain? New research shows that spinal manipulation – the primary form of care provided by doctors of chiropractic – may be an effective treatment option for tension headaches and headaches that originate in the neck. A report released in 2001 by researchers at the Duke University Evidence-Based Practice Center in Durham, NC, found that spinal manipulation resulted in almost immediate improvement for those headaches that originate in the neck, and had significantly fewer side effects and longer-lasting relief of tension-type headache than a commonly prescribed medication.
Dr. Rode says that in recent years the medical community has embraced chiropractic because it offers treatment without the use of drugs or surgery. “In treating headache pain, most experts agree that conservative care should be tried before more invasive treatments are considered. That’s what chiropractic offers. It has a long history of effectively stopping pain yet doesn’t require the use of prescription or over the counter painkillers that can have negative consequences. Chiropractic is all-natural and frequently is CAre affordable than other options. We say why suffer when you don’t have to? We invite people to come on down and explore if chiropractic might work for them.”

Poway, CA, June 18, 2007 –(PR.com)– As the baby boomer generation approaches retirement age, they have begun experiencing many of the ailments typically associated with aging. Common complaints are stiffness and aches and pains of various sorts.
According to Dr. Rode, it doesn’t have to be this way. “I get many patients who come to me in pain and one of their most frequent complaints is that their pain makes them feel old. They just naturally assume that as they age, they are going to automatically start having these problems.” Pain that is associated with aging can actually be attributed to misalignments in their spine. A common misconception is that soreness and aches in the muscle are only a muscular problem and that stretching will make it go away. What happens is nerves from the spine are pinched and that decreases or interrupts the nerve flow to the muscles causing the aches and pains.
Dr. Rode recommends chiropractic care to reduce and eliminate the pressure on the nerves thus getting rid of the aches and pains. He explains, “Often patients will have more energy, more stamina and are able to do things that they had mistakenly believed they couldn’t do any more. They tell me they feel several years younger now that they are pain free and can enjoy life more fully.”
Dr. Rode invites people who think that chiropractic may help them to call for a free consultation. He is located at 13248 Poway Rd. STE B, Poway, CA 92064 and can be reached by phone at 858-391-1372. His website address is www.RodeChiropractic.com

Maintaining Balance is the Key to a Healthy Spine
What do I mean by balance?
What I mean is that when you carry something with your right hand you should periodically carry something in your left hand. This helps balance the load on your spine. One problem women have is that they always carry their purse on one shoulder and not the other. Over time this will cause a misalignment in their spine. So you need to shift your purse to the other shoulder. This is also true when carrying a new born child around. Typically the mother or father will always hold the child on one side. Usually their stronger hand and arm. But you really need to hold the child in the other side as well. Children who have book bags should also wear both shoulder straps rather than carry the book bag on one shoulder. Balancing the load on your spine is important to keeping it aligned.
